Dr. DuPrey-Murphy started Islip OB-GYN in 1991 as a solo OB-GYN practitioner. She was born and raised in Central Islip and always had a desire to serve in the area where she grew up. Dr. DuPrey-Murphy's undergraduate training was at the historic Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was a chemistry major, graduating in three years. She then went to medical school at historic Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Her residency was in obstetrics and gynecology at Nassau University Medical Center, where she was exposed to a wide range of illnesses and complicated gynecologic problems.
Dr. DuPrey-Murphy has a special interest in colposcopies and abnormal Pap smears. Additionally, Dr. DuPrey-Murphy leads our CoolSculpting® treatment practice. CoolSculpting® was added as an enhancement to the cosmetic services that our practice was already offering.
Being from the area makes it especially meaningful to be able to care for the women and families in our community. Dr. Murphy joined the practice in 2003. Dr. Murphy was raised on Long Island, graduating from Patchogue-Medford High School. He received his undergraduate education at Delaware State University where he lettered in baseball, receiving all-conference honors as a pitcher. After a career in the business world, Dr. Murphy went through a post baccalaureate program and entered medical school at SUNY Stony Brook. Dr. Murphy's residency was at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
It was during residency where Dr. Murphy developed a special interest in urinary incontinence and cosmetic vaginal surgery. Dr. Murphy performs a wide variety of procedures that are designed with the special needs of a woman in mind. Often, some of Dr. Murphy's cosmetic GYN surgeries can be combined with breast augmentation or other plastic surgery, eliminating the need for two separate hospital admissions.
One of Dr. Murphy's major goals is for patients to have a different experience than they may have had with other doctors. Dr Murphy has pledged to make himself very accessible, making it very convenient to see him. He constantly emphasizes to the entire team that the needs of the patients always take priority. The entire team is friendly and glad to be of service to you.
